My view of the Project: ActivitiesThis is MY not-official description of the Project activities in Godollo The opinions and views expressed in this text are not necessarily those of the Kontakt Alapitvany. Tasks The people in organisation will organize a team- meeting for the foundations’ employees together with the volunteer, to discuss his/her and our expectations and ideas regarding the EVS project at the very beginning of his/her stay. She/ he would be given the possibility of bringing up new ideas and trying out different activities or clubs according to his/ her interests, and taking into account the EVS projects’ financial resources. These could take place in the local cultural centre (open until 20.00 PM). Through our volunteer we would like to bring more tolerance, acceptance and cultural diversity into our running programs. The volunteer could help creating communities of individuals by organising free time activities, cultural events and language courses. Local people have just a few alternatives to spend their leisure time and limited access to foreign language courses free of charge. Planned activities for the volunteer PARTICIPATION AT THE ORGANISATIONS’ MEETINGS: There is a short team-meeting called ‘briefing’ every work days’ morning. Everybody is welcomed (the volunteer too) to speak about her/his planned tasks for the given day. Finally, we discuss the specific tasks or arising problems and review the completed tasks of previous day. We have also scheduled regular “program meetings”, where the possible development of our programs is being discussed in order to make them more effective. The volunteer shall join these meetings with his/ her ideas, opinions and suggestions from her/his point of view. ADministrative tasks: - composing e-mails and replies to foreign partners of the foundation - distributing leaflets promoting our programmes to drugstores, bus stations or groceries shops - researching source materials on Internet: collection of data, systematization - picking up the jobs’ newspaper from post office, used by clients in their job search everyday - delivering documents needed to be signed to our partner organisations - assisting in replacement and organisation of the office equipment - uploading homepage updates (www.palyanet.hu) - folding up and enveloping research questionnaires Language tasks: - organising groups for communication skills and foreign language tutoring - providing support and assistance to Communication skills groups - Methods and activities utilized to facilitate the sessions are subject to volunteers’ individual initiative. The clients and most of the local people speak only elementary English or German. LEISURE clubs tasks (optional): The volunteer may try to organise new free time activities, by herself or himself (e.g. hiking trips, clubs for school kids: art, sport, culture, dancing, aerobics, English language conversations, “filmklubs” etc.). However, there is a strong need for promotion of self-organised clubs via meetings at schools and dissemination of posters (library, city hall, family and child care centre ...), because the foundation isn’t running any activities of this kind by itself. Examples of a possible daily program for volunteer’s activities: (it may be changed according to the volunteer’s interests): Day 1 starts in Gödöllő at 8.00- 9.00 with briefing. 9.00- 10.00 meeting with mentor to discuss potential problems and progress (2x monthly), keeping contact with the sending organisation. 10.00- 12.00 and 13.00- 15.00 Groups for communication skills. Lunch break: 12.00- 13.00. 15.00-17.00 Leisure clubs (optional) - organisation of leisure time activities in the cultural centre or outside. Day 2 starts in Budapest at 8.30- 9.30 with briefing. 9.30- 13.00 Groups for communication skills. 14.00- 15.00 helping with administrative works. Lunch break: 13.00- 14.00. Afternoon: during the first 3-5 months of the project, there should be a language course for the volunteer in Budapest or Gödöllő (the courses start at 15.30, 16.30 or 17.30). The number of EVS service hours per week strictly respects rules of Youth in Action Programme and would not exceed it in any case: 30 hours weekly, including language course and lunch break. The above tasks will be subject to review from time to time, in discussion with the volunteer, to ascertain whether they meet his/her expectations and capabilities. Weekends are free. Besides weekends, there are 2 more days-off per month. It is it up to the volunteer when would she/he like to take them, but a preliminary agreement with the program supervisor is needed. Gödöllő has beautiful environment for trips around, and travel to Budapest (only 30 km) offers boundless opportunity for culture: to spend the weekend meaty.
